A hydraulic torque wrench is a power tool designed to exert torque on a fastener to achieve proper tightening or loosening of a connection through the use of hydraulics. A torque wrench is applied to the nut either directly or in conjunction with an impact socket. Hydraulic torque wrenches apply a predetermined, controlled amount of torque to a properly lubricated fastener.
Hydraulic tensioning by elongation of the screw makes it possible to develop a great tension force for tightening bolts without any torsional stress or friction, but with high precision and very good repeatability.
The ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board) UK certified Mechanical Joint Integrity (MJI) course focuses on building competence to perform various MJI applications using a variety of tools and techniques.
Post the completion of the course, the candidates will procure the skills to dismantle, inspect, prepare, assemble and tighten flanged and bolted connections using three key modules:
– Manual torquing ( TT 01)
– Hydraulic tensioning ( TT 02)
– Hydraulic torquing ( TT 03)
These modules are standards recognised by the industry and recommended as the benchmark qualification for bolting personnel by leading authorities.
The course also comprehensively covers different aspects of health and safety, occupational hazards and best practices in the industry. In addition, Techtau exposes the candidates to overall industry systems, techniques and practices through interactive sessions.
The trainings are delivered by trainers, who have spent decades in the industrial bolting space, across countries.
Techniques (TT 01) – 3 day duration
Connection Techniques (TT 02 ) – 3 days duration
Connection Techniques (TT 03) – 3 day duration
Bolted Connection Techniques (TT 01 - TT 03) – 6 days duration
Note: Techtau will assist the candidates in getting their WTA opportunities
Post training and workplace exposure, each candidate is expected to complete a formal assessment regarding knowledge, skills and ability in MJI
The technical competence validation test is undertaken every three years to ensure continued conformance of the personnel’s knowledge, skills and aptitude and to evaluate consistent performance development.
